A non-profit organization, the Muttontown Horsemen’s Association is recognized as the Adopt-A-Park Steward of the Muttontown Preserve. The Preserve includes 550 acres of fields, woodlands, ponds and estate grounds. Our goal is to provide recreational and educational events, while restoring and preserving the existing trail system for hikers, walkers and equestrians.

The objectives of the Muttontown Horsemen’s Association include:
-To educate the general public about the Equine Community on Long Island. According to recent local estimates there are 38,000 horses on Long Island, yet most people rarely get an opportunity to get near one. We offer opportunities for people to interact with horse, ponies and other livestock with the help of our many volunteers. Our annual Equine Festival has been described by Long Island Equestrians as Long Island’s “Equine Affaire”. The event is free to the public and all costs to run the festival are paid by Muttontown Horsemen’s Association.

-To protect the Muttontown Preserve. We work in cooperation with Nassau County Department of Parks & Recreation to maintain and improve the trail system for riding, hiking, nature walks, along with the preservation of green spaces of Muttontown.

-To work to protect the adjoining trail systems.

-To support with other equestrian organizations on Long Island.
